MTN Move Android application uses Google Fit to fetch user’s fitness data mainly -
For above 2 data points, app requests for 2 permissions - ./auth/fitness.activity.read for getting the step count and ./auth/fitness.location.read for getting the distance travelled by the user.
These permissions are required by the App to allow Users sync their fitness data stated above to compete with other users of MTN App and set challenges and invite specific users to participate in challenges with them. The app also allows users to view their standing on a Global leaderboard that is
periodically refreshed. The Fitness data sync can be enabled and disabled via controls provided to the users. Thus, this above functionality aims at improving the wellbeing of the individual users.
